The FINESTRES-ELISAVA Chair of Research and Experimentation in Comics (CREC) is born
We are living in a moment of effervescence in narrative graphic languages. Comics and graphic narrative have achieved great visibility and recognition, both in the cultural sphere and in the academic world. In this context of growth and innovation, the Chair of Research and Experimentation in Comics FINESTRES-ELISAVA (CREC), a joint initiative of the Finestres Foundation and ELISAVA (UVic-UCC).
The CREC Chair's main objective is to promote research, training and innovation in the field of comics, placing special emphasis on its potential as a narrative language and knowledge tool.
Lines of action:
The Chair develops several lines of action to promote research and creativity:

Production of thought and theoretical research
A call is open to incorporate a doctoral researcher interested in delving deeper into the graphic essay from an academic perspective. -
Research and digitization of Catalan graphic heritage
Grant intended to develop a research project on comics and graphic humor in Catalonia, with actions for digitization and open dissemination of the studied collection. -
Experimental comics: research and creation
Residency to explore hybridizations between comics and other creative disciplines, such as performing arts, music, exhibitions or science. -
Collaborations with cultural projects and companies
The Chair also establishes links with various entities to promote comics in different contexts.
The Chair is directed by Dr. Mery Cuesta Reigada, who promotes this space open to research, creativity and critical thinking.
